Quick Ernesto Update; We Have a Hurricane Again!
In their 5pm AST update, the NHC stated that the max winds of Ernesto are now at 75 mph. Pressure is at 977 mb and the movement is to the NNE at 17 mph. The center was located about 520 miles south of Halifax Nova Scotia.
Ernesto is forecast to accelerate to the NNE and then get pulled northeast and then east-northeast early next week. It will pass near southeastern Newfoundland. Ernesto could strengthen a big more over the next 12 hours before weakening and turning extra-tropical. Breaking waves could bring the possibility of coastal flooding,
particularly along southwest-facing shorelines from Bunin east to Avalon regions.
High surf and rip current risk remain in place for the east coast beaches.
