415pm CDT Update: Scattered Severe Storms; 80 mph winds possible in parts of Elmore and Tallapoosa Counties

Storms continue to fire across parts of central Alabama and we have a few severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. A severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Tuscaloosa County until 5pm.  Storms along a line moving southeast at 30 mph were packing a punch from near Bankhead Lock and Dam to Gordo.

…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 500 PM CDT

FOR SOUTHERN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY…

At 418 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line

extending from near Deerlick Creek Campgrounds to 6 miles east of

Gordo, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to

roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include…

Tuscaloosa, Northport, Holt, Moundville, Brookwood, Coaling, Vance, Coker, McFarland Mall, Lake Lurleen State Park, Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, Tuscaloosa Regional Airport, Lake Wildwood, Mercedes Benz Of Alabama, Shelton State Community College, Bryant Denny Stadium, University Mall, Deerlick Creek Campgrounds, Lake Tuscaloosa, and Englewood.

The other warning in effect for parts of Elmore and Tallapoosa Counties until 445pm.  Destructive storm here near Dadeville.  Winds to 80 mph possible and golf ball size hail.

…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM CDT FOR NORTHEASTERN ELMORE AND TALLAPOOSA COUNTIES…

At 415 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Dadeville, moving southeast at 35 mph.

THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR TALLAPOOSA COUNTY.

HAZARD…80 mph wind gusts and golf ball size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

Locations impacted include…Alexander City, Tallassee, Dadeville, Camp Hill, Jacksons’ Gap, New Site, Waverly, Martin Dam, Southern Lake Martin, Hillabee Creek, Eastern Lake Martin, Liberty City, Northern Lake Martin, Kowaliga Bridge, Wind Creek State Park, Still Waters Resort, Western Lake Martin, Dare Park, Horseshoe Bend, and Yates Reservoir.
