Dangerous complex of storms in Northern Alabama – New Severe Thunderstorm Warnings

A large area of strong to severe thunderstorms continue to roll through parts of northern Alabama.  There are two main area of concerns:

One is from Huntsville to Hytop to Scottsboro.  A new severe thunderstorm warning until 5pm CDT for all of Jackson County and Central Madison County.  70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail possible.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Jackson County in northeastern Alabama…
Central Madison County in north central Alabama…
Southeastern Lincoln County in Middle Tennessee…
Southern Franklin County in Middle Tennessee…

* Until 500 PM CDT.

* At 421 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 miles north of New Market to 6 miles southeast of
Huntland to 9 miles south of Cowan, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Huntsville, Scottsboro, Bridgeport, Moores Mill, Meridianville,
Redstone Arsenal, Hazel Green, Stevenson, Hollywood, and Huntland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

The second area encompasses parts of Marshall, Cullman and Morgan Counties.  60 mph winds and quarter size hail possible in this area.

Northeastern Cullman County in north central Alabama…
Southeastern Morgan County in north central Alabama…

* Until 515 PM CDT.

* At 427 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Strawberry,
or near Arab, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include…
Albertville, Boaz, Guntersville, Arab, Douglas, Baileyton, High
Point, Horton, Hulaco, and Eddy.
