Rain At Times Through the Next Seven Days

| July 21, 2024 @ 6:34 am

Projected rainfall totals through Saturday evening.

Projected rainfall totals through Saturday evening.

The rain train will continue across Central Alabama today as scattered showers and storms will be likely at times throughout the day, with much of the activity occurring during the afternoon and early evening. It will be warm and muggy with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

We will continue to be caught in between a trough just to our west, and ridging to our east. That southwesterly flow will continue to pump moisture up from the Gulf of Mexico across Central Alabama. Monday will be mostly cloudy with scattered to numerous showers and storms likely at times. Highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Pretty much the same story for Tuesday, but the cloud cover and the rain and storms will slightly bring those high temperatures down a little, ranging from the lower 80s to the upper 80s.

Showers and storms will be likely again on Wednesday as there will be hardly any movement in the trough and the ridge. Highs will once again be in the 80s.

Seriously, you could call this the “rinse and repeat” forecast, as showers and storms will once again be likely at times on Thursday. Highs in the 80s.

No reason to change the forecast for the end of the workweek on Friday. Rain and storms will once again be likely at times, especially during the afternoon. Highs in the 80s.

And at the end of the forecast period on Saturday, rain chances will drop to the “highly possible” category as there will be a 50/50 shot of scattered to numerous showers and storms. Temperatures will be warmer with the lesser rain coverage. Highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

Now taking a look at the tropics… For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 7 days.
