Today will simply be a scorcher across Central Alabama as the heat has made its way back into the area. The good news is that humidity values will remain lower, so it won’t be unbearable. The bad news is that Jefferson and Shelby counties are under a code orange air quality alert through the day. Skies will be mostly sunny, but a stray shower or two may be possible over the extreme southern portions of the area. Highs in the upper 90s.

No change in the temperatures for your Sunday, but there will be just enough moisture in the air that we could see a few isolated to scattered showers and storms, even though the GFS doesn’t believe there will be much happening. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 90s.

The heat sticks with us to start the work week, so the forecast pretty much stays the same on Monday. It will be mostly sunny with a small chance of a few isolated to scattered showers and storms. Highs in the mid to upper 90s.

Unfortunately, humidity levels start rising again on Tuesday, and heat advisories may need to be issued. The good news is that rain chances will be rising as well. We’ll have a decent chance of scattered showers and storms during the afternoon, with highs in the mid to upper 90s.

Scattered afternoon showers and storms will be likely on Wednesday, as a surface front begins to slowly push its way toward Central Alabama. We may see a strong storm or two, but too early to know if severe weather is possible. Highs in the lower to mid 90s.

The front gets closer on Thursday, and showers and storms will be likely at times through the day. Once again, a strong storm or two will be possible. Highs in the upper 80s to the mid 90s.

The front will slowly work through much of the area on Friday, keeping rain and storms possible for the northern half, while likely at times for the southern half. Drier air will start working into the area behind the front that will lower humidity levels. Highs in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

And everything is quiet across the tropics for now, and tropical cyclone formation is not expected for the next seven days.
