Late Friday Evening Update on Beryl

| July 5, 2024 @ 9:23 pm

Heading west of I-10 tonight for an intercept with Beyrl on Sunday and Monday.

Tonight, the center of the storm is remerging off the northwest coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The models have come into pretty good agreement on a landfall on the Texas Coast between Corpus Christi and Freeport Monday.

SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for…
* The Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande northward
to Sargent
* The northeastern coast from mainland Mexico from Barra el
Mezquital to the mouth of the Rio Grande

A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for…
* The Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande northward
to Sargent

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for…
* The coast of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico west of Cabo
Catoche to Campeche

The Hurricane Center forecast is stronger than the model intensify guidance. I think it will catch up to the official forecast soon. It should be a strong category one hurricane at landfall.
