Beryl Now a Major Category Three Hurricane

Beryl continued to rapidly intensify overnight. Top winds are now 115 mph. The central pressure is now estimated at 968 mb.

There is a distinct eye.

The Hurricane Hunters are in the plane now. They have measured 130 mph winds, so the storm could already be a Category 4.

It was 420 miles ESE of Barbados at 7 a.m. CDT.

The Windward Islands are under alert with most of them under hurricane warnings, including:

…Barbados
…St. Lucia
…St. Vincent and the Grenadines
…Grenada
…Tobago

Martinique is under tropical storm warning.

Dominica is under tropical storm watch.

The hurricane will cross the islands in the hurricane warning area tomorrow morning with top winds around 130 mph.

New advisory is due out in about 15 minutes.
