Line of Storms Pushing Southward

| May 9, 2024 @ 3:49 am

A line of heavy thunderstorms, including some embedded supercells, is pushing slowly southward early this morning over Middle Tennessee.

A severe thunderstorm warning was just issued for parts of Madison County for a severe thunderstorm just west of Fayetteville, TN, which will move near Hazel Greene and New Market. It is not tornadic at this time, but the cells in the line have had a history of exhibiting rotation.

A few showers and storms are developing rapidly over North Alabama as well.

A broken line of storms extends from northern Limestone County west of Elkmont through northern Lawrence County near Town Creek into eastern Colbert County near Leighton. This line extends back to the southwest, although the cells are not as developed yet.

a few isolated storms have formed over Marshall County over into DEKalb County from Union Grove to Grant to Mentone. Search and rescue efforts are still going on in Henagar tonight, and I am sure the lightning from the storm to the east is unnerving after what they have been through tonight.

We will be watching all these storms for severe weather possibilities. There are already muultiple severe thunderstorm warnings over middle Tenenssee with a tornado warning for Marshall and Bedford Counties. This is for a storm that is southeast of Columbia, which is in Maury County, and was hit hard by a tornado Wednesday afternoon.
