Midday Nowcast: Clearing Sky & Colder; Freeze Warning Tonight

FREEZE WARNING: Colder air is blowing into Alabama today. The sky is clearing and we have a brisk north wind blowing in those colder temperatures as highs today are holding in the 50s for most locations. The sky will clear tonight and the winds will relax and temperatures will take a tumble. Lows tonight will be in the 20s and 30s for most of the state and a Freeze Warning is in effect all the way down to the Florida state line. In fact, a Freeze Warning covers much of the Deep South tonight, from the Southern Plains to the Carolinas.

SUNNY, COOL TUESDAY: Tomorrow will be a sunny, cool day with a high in the mid 50s across North Alabama and mid 60s across South Alabama. Tomorrow night will be another cold one with lows in the mid to upper 30s, and areas of frost are expected. By the way, Spring officially arrives as the Vernal Equinox occurs 10:06 PM CDT. This is when the sun will be directly over the Equator.

REST OF THE WEEK: Wednesday will feature a sunny sky with a high in the low 70s in many areas as the warming trend continues. Clouds will increase Thursday, and a few periods of rain are likely Thursday night into Friday morning. Rain amounts should be 1/2 inch or less, and no severe storms are expected. The sky will clear by Friday night as dry air returns to the Deep South.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Look for sunny pleasant days and fair chilly nights. Morning lows will be in the 40sā€¦ the high Saturday will be in the upper 60s and low 70s, followed by mid 70s Sunday. The big story for the weekend is both days will finally be dry!!!
