Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Much of Fayette County

Severe thunderstorms with torrential rains, lightning, hail, strong winds, and possible tornadoes are pushing into western Fayette and northwestern Tuscaloosa counties at this hour.

The storms have exhibited concentrated areas of rotation but have not produced any tornado debris signatures or reports of tornadoes touching down.

But tornadoes are possible, along with damaging winds to 60 mph.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Northwestern Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama…
Southern Fayette County in west central Alabama…

* Until 645 AM CDT.

* At 546 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Bluff to near Kennedy, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include…
Fayette, Berry, Belk, Bankston, Bevill State College Fayette, Stone
Wall, Richard Arthur Field, Fayette County Public Lake, and New
Lexington.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
