Sunny Sunday
A beautiful Sunday is in progress across North and Central Alabama. Temperatures are on the cool side. They will top out in the upper 40s over Northwest Alabama, with lower to middle 50s elsewhere. This is about 4-7 degrees below the normal highs for this time of year. That normal high at Birmingham is 60F for today. The normal low is 39F.
Skies are mostly sunny, with just some high clouds streaming across in a fast southwesterly upper-level flow.
Steady rain covers much of the Florida Peninsula this afternoon. This has forced the cancellation of today’s Daytona 500 race. They will host a rare doubleheader tomorrow. At least it is a holiday, with tomorrow being Presidents’ Day.
Under mostly clear skies tonight across Alabama, lows will be in the lower and middle 20s North, with upper 20s to lower 30s across Central Alabama.
With lots of sunshine on Monday, highs across North Alabama will be in the middle and upper 50s, with upper 50s and lower 60s across Central Alabama.
The next chance of rain comes on Thursday and Thursday night. No heavy rain or severe weather is expected with that system.
