Midday Nowcast: Sunny and Warmer Today
TODAY/TOMORROW: Dry weather continues today and tomorrow with plenty of sunshine we are seeing highs surge into the 60s for many locations. Nights continue to be rather chilly with lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s.
USA BRIEF: Two quick hitting Pacific storms will impact much of the West Coast with periods of heavy rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds through the weekend. Downstream to the East, two fast moving clipper-type storms will race from the northern Rockies across the Plains to the Northeast U.S. and Mid-Atlantic with areas of rain and accumulating snow through the rest of this week.
FRIDAY FRONT: Clouds will be increasing and we will bring in a chance of rain late Friday night ahead of a cold front. Moisture will be limited, and rain amounts should be 1/4 inch or less. No risk of severe storms and no thunder. Highs Friday will be in the mid 60s.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Rain will end Saturday morning for most of the state, although lingering showers are possible during the afternoon and evening hours near the Gulf Coast. The day will be breezy and much colder with highs likely holding in the 40s all day. Sunday, we expect sunshine in full supply with highs in the low to mid 50s. Many communities will likely see a freeze early Sunday morning with widespread 20s expected.
INTO NEXT WEEK: Temperatures rebound next week, with highs in the 65-75 degree range by mid-week. The weather will be active with waves of energy bringing the potential for some light rain Tuesday, and then again Friday, but much of the week will be dry and pleasant. Still no sign of any bitterly cold Arctic air through the rest of February.
