Midday Nowcast: Cold, Cloudy, Some Snow Showers Later Today
A cold Friday underway as temperatures will not make it out of the 40s today. The northern half of the state is covered in clouds, while the southern half of the state is seeing sunshine in full supply. The clouds are associated with the cold core upper low that is moving through the Mid-South today.
Some light rain is possible through the afternoon hours, but this evening as temperatures drop, we are expecting to see some snow showers through the evening and overnight hours for the northern half of the state. Along and north of Interstate 20 is where some grassy areas and elevated surface could get some light accumulations, however, travel impacts are not expected. It will certainly make for some excitement later today and tonight for some folks across North Alabama.
WEEKEND WEATHER: It will be dry this weekend, but tomorrow will feature more clouds than sunshine and cold temperatures with highs again in the 40s. Sunday will be sunny, and highs should make their way into the mid 50s for most locations. Morning lows tomorrow and Sunday morning will be hovering around the freezing mark.

Another fast moving area of low pressure will move through the state on Wednesday, bringing more clouds and rain to Alabama.
