It looks like a war zone along Lakeshore Drive, especially around Brookwood Village, and with good reason.

The NWS Birmingham has confirmed two tornadoes touched down early Sunday morning.

The first, rated as an EF1 with max winds 100 mph touched down north of Lakeshore from Wildwood to Samford University. The second, rated EF1, with top winds of 90 mph moved from Brookwood Mall into Mountain Brook and Cahaba Heights. Details will follow later.

Lakeshore is still closed from Brookwood eastward to US-280.

A survey team will survey parts of Lee and Barbour counties tomorrow.
