5:35 a.m. Update: Severe Weather Threat for Central Alabama Is Basically Over
Our line of storms continues early this morning from near Phenix City in Russell County to Clayton in Barbour County to between Elba and Enterprise in Coffee County into extreme southeastern Covington County.
The tornado watch continues for Barbour, Pike, and Crenshaw Counties in the NWS Birmingham CWA, but the storms are out of Crenshaw, and will be out of Pike shortly. That just leaves Barbour and the storms in that county are much weaker now.
So, I am going to call it a day, or a night, or whatever and hit the hay. Thank you for sticking with us all day as we covered this severe weather event, the first significant on in Alabama in some time.
Unfortunately, it will probably turn out to be good practice for what could be an active severe weather season in Alabama. Good night.
