Saturday Briefing — A Nice Weekend; Plenty of Rain Expected Through the Short Work Week

Today will be a nice and mild day across Central Alabama as clouds will be decreasing and temperatures will be mild. However, clear skies this evening will allow for those temperatures to drop rather quickly. Highs will be in the mid 60s to the lower 70s and lows will bottom out in the mid 30s to the lower 40s.

If you think today’s weather is great, Sunday will be even better as we’ll have sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.

A surface low will be approaching from the west and will swing a cold front into Central Alabama starting late on Monday evening, and it will wash out across the southern half of the area on Tuesday. Much of the day on Monday will be dry, but clouds will be increasing. Showers and storms will become possible in the west and northwestern parts of the area by the late afternoon to early evening hours. A few storms may become strong to severe and a Marginal Risk is up for the extreme west and southwestern parts of the area. Damaging winds and a brief tornado will be possible. Highs in the upper 60s to the mid 70s.

Rain and storms will continue for much of the area on Tuesday as the front looks to wash out across the southeastern parts of Central Alabama. While a few storms may be strong, the bigger story will be heavy rains. Highs in the mid 60s to the lower 70s.

Wednesday continues to look to be wet as moisture continues to be pulled up into the area and another surface low will be approaching from the west. That low will help to move the rain out of the area during the late night and overnight hours. Highs in the mid 50s to the lower 60s.

Thanksgiving Day will be a rather cool day with skies clearing and becoming sunny. Highs will top out in the mid 50s to the lower 60s, with lows dipping into the mid 30s to the lower 40s.

And at the end of the forecast period on Black Friday, skies will be mostly sunny and temperatures will be a small touch warmer with highs in the upper 50s to the lower 60s.

In the tropics, we have a disturbance over the southwestern Atlantic that is causing some disorganized showers and storms near the southeastern parts of the Bahamas islands. The good news is that development into a tropical cyclone is now highly unlikely. The rest of the tropics are quiet.
