Strong to Severe Storms in the I-85 Corridor

| August 15, 2023 @ 2:51 pm

As expected, strong storms have formed this afternoon in the I-85 Corridor between Atlanta and Montgomery.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for northeastern Montgomery and Macon Counties.

The strongest storms are LaGrange GA back into southeastern Chambers County. Others are between Auburn and Notasulga. The ones around Tallassee, Shorter, and Tuskegee are the strongest, and have prompted the severe thunderstorm warnings.

Winds of 60 mph are now showing up on the Maxwell Doppler Radar just west of the radar site.

The storms are moving east at 25 mph.

Damaging wind gusts to 60 mph are the greatest threat. Watch out for deadly lightning and torrential rains as well.
