Bunches of Warnings, Numerous Trees Down in Fayette County

With several severe thunderstorm warnings going on, I will shift to just giving general updates every 20 minutes or so…

Severe thunderstorm warnings continue for several counties in West Alabama. The most recent additions are Winston County as well as Walker County.

There are reports of several trees down in Fayette County.

Our line of strong storms extends from near Cherokee to Russellville, to Hackleburg to west of Winfield and Fayette to Millport and Macedonia.

It is pushing east at 25-30 mph.

Winds gusts to 60 mph and some hail as well as intense lightning and torrential rains will accompany these storms.

Another severe storm is over western Jefferson County approaching Short Creek and Rock Creek. Power lines are reported down in western Jefferson County along Warrior River Road according to John Talbot.

Storms over eastern Alabama from eastern Cherokee down through Calhoun and Cleburne Counties into Talladega, Clay, and Randolph Counties are not severe at this time.

Storms are growing in Morgan and Marshall Counties as well.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the northern half of Alabama until 8 pm.

Heat advisories and excessive heat warnings continue as well. The heat index is 115F at Tuscaloosa and 114F at Bessemer. The temp at Tuscaloosa is 95 with a dewpoint of 80. It is 116F at Jasper and 110F at Pell City and 109F at Birmingham.
