Storms Intensifying Across North Central Alabama

| August 3, 2023 @ 1:35 pm

Storms are approaching severe limits now across North Central Alabama.

At 1:30 p.m. the line of storms extends from near Hamilton in Marion County to Double Springs in Winston County to near Cullman, Arab, and Guntersville.

The strongest storms extend from between Double Springs, Arley, and Addison to near Cullman.

Torrential rain, lots of deadly lightning, small hail, and the threat of damaging winds exists with these storms. Winds could exceed 40 mph.

The storms are moving into very unstable air with high probabilities for downbursts, so the damaging wind threat will continue to increase. There still could be a severe thunderstorm watch issued for the area as the storms intensify further.

Please be inside a substantial structure as these storms approach.

These storms will reach Gadsden before 230 pm, Birmingham before 330 pm, and Tuscaloosa before 430 pm.
