Strong Storms Across Central Alabama: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Chilton County

| July 29, 2023 @ 4:27 pm

Here is the radar at 4:25 p.m.

Developing storm over Hoover is going to be strong. Already producing a good bit of lightning. It was formed from an outflow boundary.

Our strongest storm at this hour is in Chilton County between Jemison and Clanton. A severe thunderstorm warning was just issued for Chilton County. Looks like Thorsby and Lomax will get the main impact including threat of 60 mph wind gusts. Jemison and Clanton are on the edges of the polygon.

Another is southeast of Columbiana.

Storms are organized in a loose line from northeastern Tuscaloosa County to near West Blocton in Bibb County and on to just north of Centreville.

Lots of lighting torrential rain, and strong gusty winds in these storms. They are all capable of producing a damaging downburst, so take them seriously if they are near you.
