Storms Weakening, Still Packing a Punch

| July 18, 2023 @ 9:14 pm

The storms dropping rapidly southeastward over West Central Alabama are beginning to weaken. But they are still capable of winds of 40 mph and torrential rains. They still have a good bit of lightning, but that has dropped in the past hours.

They extend from just west of Cullman to between Jasper and Carbon Hill to Berry, Fayette and Belk.

The storms will drop through Lamar, Fayette, Walker, and Cullman Counties into Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, and Blount Counties over the next hour as they push southeast at 50 mph.

A flood advisory was just issued for Walker County. One hour rainfall amounts are in the 2 inch range just northwest of Jasper.
