Storms Converging on Birmingham Metro

| July 7, 2023 @ 5:46 pm

Strong storms across southwestern Blount, southern Cullman, and northern St. Clair counties are converging on the Birmingham area from the north.

They may be aided by decent outflow boundaries arriving from the west and southeast as well.

This could spell very heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning for the Metro if the storms can manage to hold together.

Be alert for flooding. An areal flood advisory is already in effect for I-65 in southern Blount County and a flood warning for Cullman County. Rainfall totals are approaching 2.5 inches.

Strong gusty winds could occur as well. Perhaps some small hail.
