First Severe Thunderstorm Warning of the Afternoon…New Severe Thunderstorm Watch Coming Soon

A new severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Lamar and Pickens Counties until 545 p.m.
Severe warned storm in eastern Mississippi is approaching souther Lamar and northern Pickens Counties. It will affect the communities of Millport, Macedonia, and Reform.
Large hail and damaging winds are possible. Lightning has really ramped up with this storm with over 60 lightning flashes per minute. Hail may be approaching 2 inches.
This activity will approach Tuscaloosa eventually.
The SPC and the local NWS Offices are consulting on a new severe thunderstorm watch that will be coming out shortly. It will not go as far wast as Birmingham or Montgomery but will include Tuscaloosa Centreville and Selma. It will go to Midnight.
