Getting Ready for a Busy Day and Night…Watch Coming Shortly
Strong storms are occurring across Northwest Alabama right now. They extend from west of Littleville to Pleasant Site and down to Red Bay.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for parts of Franklin, Lawrence and Colbert Counties.
Extremely large hail is indicated near Red Bay in Franklin County. Perhaps to the size of baseballs.
The SPC is concerned about the increasing severe threat across North and Central Alabama and says that a watch will likely be coming soon. It could even be a tornado watch as there may be just enough low level helicity to spin up a couple of tornadoes. But the main threat will be damaging winds, especially as the complex of storms that is organizing over Mississippi moves towards us.
Hail is also likely.
Storms are also increasing in the I-22 Corridor from Carbon Hill in Walker County to Birmingham. Very heavy rainfall, lightning and gusty winds are likely.
