Severe Thunderstorm Watch for South Alabama Until 8 p.m.

| June 12, 2023 @ 1:21 pm

The SPC has issued a severe thunderstorm watch into the evening hours across parts of southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, Northwest Florida and Southwest Georgia.

The airmass across the watch area is very unstable and storms will fire along a leftover outflow boundary from last night’s convection that moved south into the area.

There is an unusual amount of wind shear for mid-June across the region and it will allow storms to be a little more organized than they normally are this time of year. Damaging winds and hail will be the main threats, but a couple of tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
