Midday Nowcast: Another Sun-Filled May Day

One more sunny and beautiful day for Alabama with temperatures again surging well into the 70s this afternoon with some low 80s showing up as well. Clouds begin to increase tonight, and a few showers are possible early tomorrow morning as a warm front moves north from the Coast. By tomorrow afternoon, scattered areas of rain and storms are possible especially across North Alabama. Despite the increasing rain chances, most of tomorrow will be dry with a high in the mid to upper 70s.

USA BRIEF: Severe thunderstorms capable of large hail, strong/damaging wind gusts, and a couple of tornadoes are possible across parts of the southern Great Plains this afternoon and evening. Dry, gusty winds will bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to parts of New Mexico and southern Colorado today into Saturday.

WEEKEND WEATHER: Saturday and Sunday will be warm with higher humidity and afternoon highs in the low 80s. Expect a mix of sun and clouds both days and we will mention the chance of scattered showers and storms, but still most locations will remain dry.

NEXT WEEK: A very summer-like pattern develops over the state through the week. Daily scattered showers will remain in the forecast for much of the week, with the higher chances early in the week. Highs will be in the mid 80s, and could likely approach 90 degrees in spots by the latter half of the week…Get ready, summer heat and humidity are on the way!!!
