Severe Weather Threat Increasing for South Alabama

Thunderstorms now over Southwest Alabama and Southeast Mississippi are expected to increase over the next few hours ahead of an approaching cold front.

There is some chance that a severe weather watch may be required. Damaging wind gusts appear to be the biggest threat. I can’t rule out an isolated tornado over South Alabama this afternoon though.

Just light to moderate rain across North and Central Alabama, with some heavy rain on Sand Mountain in Northeast Alabama. No severe weather threat though for North or Central Alabama as temperatures are falling behind the cold front, which is located just south of I-59 and pushing steadily southeast.

It 44F now at Florence and 76F at Dothan. Quite a difference.

Cold tonight and Saturday night with widespread 30s tonight and 20s tomorrow night.
