Alabama Update at 2 p.m.: New Tornado Warning to the Georgia Line
We still have a large and extremely damaging tornado moving into Chamber County well south of Wadley. The storm had looked like it was weakening a bit, but now it is ramping up again.
A tornado emergency continues for Tallapoosa County until 2:30 p.m. A new tornado warning was just issued for Chambers and Randolph Counties. Tornado Warning [tornado: OBSERVED, hail: 1.50 IN] for Chambers, Randolph [AL] till 3:00 PM CST …AT 156 PM CST, A TORNADO PRODUCING STORM WAS LOCATED 7 MILES WEST OF TRAMMEL CROSSROADS, OR 10 MILES NORTHEAST OF DADEVILLE, MOVING EAST AT 55 MPH.
A new tornado warning has just been issued for Conecuh and Covington Counties. Dangerous storm between Evergreen and Castleberry. This storm is a supercell that is out by itself and could put down a tornado at any time. It is moving toward Red Level.
Severe thunderstorm warnings blanket the line through much of Alabama for the damaging wind threat. There still could be an isolated tornado embedded in the line as well.
A few scattered storms have formed over Northwest Alabama. They are not severe at this time and are not expected to become severe. A special weather statement is in effeect for the Athens and Decatur area in North Alabama.
Tornado watches continue for areas along and ahead of the line. They are filled in purple. The watches expire at a variety of times and will probably be canceled earlier than their advertised expiration times.
