Flood Watch for Portions of Central Alabama Goes Into Effect at Noon Today
NWS Birmingham has issued a Flood Watch for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties in Central Alabama starting at 12 pm today and is set to expire at 12 pm Wednesday. …FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON CST TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING…
* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE…A portion of Central Alabama, including the following
counties, Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa,
Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry,
Pike, Russell and Tallapoosa.
* WHEN…From Noon CST today through Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Periods of heavy rainfall are possible across the watch area
due to multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday
afternoon through Wednesday morning. 2 to 4 inches of total
rainfall is possible, with locally higher amounts.
