Active Warnings & Advisories for the Arctic Blast
All the Tennessee Valley counties (Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan) are set to go under a WIND CHILL WARNING tonight at midnight and is set to expire at 12 pm on Saturday. An arctic blast will move through the area this evening, and temperatures will rapidly plummet afterwards. Wind chills as low as 10 below zero to 20 below zero will be possible.
The northern portion of Central Alabama (including Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, St. Clair, Walker, and Winston counties) are set to go under a WIND CHILL WARNING from tonight at midnight and is set to expire at 12 pm on Friday. A combination of cold air and windy conditions will result in wind chills as low as 11 below zero.
The rest of Central Alabama (Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa counties) are set to go under a WIND CHILL ADVISORY from tonight at midnight and is set to expire at 12 pm on Saturday. A combination of cold air and windy conditions will result in wind chills as low as 5 below zero.
All the Central Alabama counties are set to go under a HARD FREEZE WARNING starting tonight at midnight and is set to expire at 9 am on Christmas morning. A prolonged period of very cold temperatures will be a threat to people and pets without adequate warmth. Exposed pipes that are not insulated or drained could burst.
