Latin Food Week
The Birmingham Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier presents Latin Food Week with Dulce Rivera Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Rivera is a key figure in Central Alabama’s Hispanic community, using the connections forged through her family’s supermarket Mi Pueblo to promote inclusion and celebrate culture. She serves as a board member for Fiesta!, Alabama’s largest celebration of Hispanic heritage, while partnering with other festivals such as Day of the Dead and outreach through the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama. Attendees will enjoy samples following the demo and a copy of the recipe will be available to take home. Admission is free. The event will take place at 212 29th St. S. in Birmingham.
Latin American Heritage Festival
Celebrate Latin culture at the Birmingham Museum of Art during the sixth annual Latin American Heritage Festival in collaboration with Fiesta Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Festivities will feature Spanish-language gallery tours, delicious Latin cuisine, art activities, face painting and more. Admission is free, but registration is required.
