NWS Birmingham Cancels Severe Thunderstorm Watch
NWS Birmingham has cancelled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 pm for Dallas, Marengo, and Sumter counties as the threat of severe weather has ended for those locations at this time.
The latest Day One Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center has removed all severe weather threats from Central Alabama, except for the southern half of Marengo County. However, the stronger storms of concern have moved well to the southeast of the county, and therefore, the severe threat has ended for the county.
Some showers and a few rumbles of thunder may continue to be possible for locations along and south of I-20 through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening hours. We’ll have to watch the leading edge of these storms over the extreme southeastern parts of Central Alabama, as gusty winds still may occur mainly for Pike, Barbour, and the extreme southern portions of Bullock counties.
