Midday Nowcast: The Sky Continues to Clear
After the wet and stormy night, the weather is improving across Alabama today. The sky continues to clear with mild temperatures in the lower 70s this afternoon. Tonight will be clear and chilly with lows in the mid to upper 40s. Tomorrow will be dry with ample sunshine; high will be close to 80 degrees.
EASTER WEEKEND WEATHER: The front will move back north as a warm front and stall across Alabama, bringing rain and storms back to the state both days this weekend. We expect periods of rain Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 70s both days. It won’t rain all weekend, but if you have something planned outside be ready for off and on rain, along with a rumble of thunder at times.
Also, we note the SPC has defined a low end, “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms for parts of West and South Alabama Saturday… for areas south of a line from Aliceville to Montgomery to Abbeville. A few storms in that part of the state could produce strong, gusty winds and hail along the frontal boundary.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the Alabama “A Day” game in Tuscaloosa Saturday (2:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be cloudy with periods of rain likely. Temperatures will be in the 70-74 degree range.
The Birmingham Stallions will most the New Jersey Generals Saturday evening at Protective Stadium (6:30p CT kickoff)… expect a cloudy sky with occasional showers; temperatures will fall from near 72 at kickoff, into the upper 60s by the final whistle.
NEXT WEEK: Showers are likely Monday, then drier air will return Tuesday and Wednesday. A cold front will bring a chance of rain/storms around Thursday, followed by another shot of dry air Friday. Highs will be mostly in the 70s through the week
