Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued Until 9 pm for Much of Central Alabama
NWS Birmingham and the SPC has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH until 9 pm tonight for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.
• A couple tornadoes possible
• Scattered hail up to lime size possible
• Scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph possible

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Central Alabama
* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 110 PM
until 900 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include…
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY… Thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage and
intensity this afternoon through this evening over central Alabama.
Environmental conditions support the development of severe
thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and/or large hail.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
REMEMBER… A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
