Tornado Watch Issued for Portions of Central Alabama Until 6 pm

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a TORNADO WATCH until 6 pm tonight for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa.

Threats in the watch area includes:
• A few tornadoes
• Isolated hail up to quarter size
• Scattered gusts up to 70 mph

A line of thunderstorms over southeast Mississippi will likely intensify this afternoon and spread eastward across the watch area. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible with the strongest cells.
