Areal Flood Advisory for Parts of Lee, Macon, Montgomery Co. Until 8 pm

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Lee, Macon and Montgomery.

* WHEN…Until 800 PM CST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 453 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Montgomery, Auburn, Tuskegee, Notasulga, Milstead, Pike Road,
Shorter, Franklin, Victoryland, Tysonville, Waugh, Hardaway,
Mount Meigs, Liverpool, Auburn University In Montgomery,
Eastdale Mall, Lake Tuskegee, Lagoon Park, Pinedale and
Gunter Air Force Base.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
