…FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY…
* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall
continues.
* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Calhoun, Etowah, St. Clair and Talladega.
* WHEN…Until noon CST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor
drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1017 AM CST, Heavy rainfall from earlier thunderstorms has
elevated streams and creeks around the area. Minor flooding
along area streams is ongoing.
– Locations along Big Canoe Creek are likely place to
experience minor flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Oxford, Pell City, Leeds, Moody, Rainbow City, Springville,
Odenville, West End-Cobb Town, Lincoln, Margaret, Argo,
Ashville, Riverside, Ragland, Ohatchee, Hobson City, Honda
Manufacturing Of Alabama, Harrisburg, Logan Martin Lake and
Neely Henry Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Calhoun, Etowah, St. Clair and Talladega.
* WHEN…Until 1030 AM CST.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor
drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 728 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between
1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
– The Big Canoe Creek at Highway 231 near Ashville is nearing
action stage due to continued runoff from heavy rainfall.
This is the most likely place to experience minor flooding
shortly.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
