Areal Flood Advisory Issued for Parts of Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Jefferson, St. Clair Co. Until 10:45 pm

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM CST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Jefferson and St. Clair.

* WHEN…Until 1045 PM CST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 850 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. 2 inches of rain is possible in a short period of
time.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Gadsden, Rainbow City, Oneonta, Attalla, Hokes Bluff,
Springville, Blountsville, Cleveland, Dallas, Glencoe,
Warrior, Kimberly, Ashville, Sardis City, Ragland, Locust
Fork, Ohatchee, Steele, Altoona and Snead.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
