Midday Nowcast: Sun & Clouds and Mild Temperatures
We are seeing more clouds in the sky today, but overall it is a nice day of weather across the state. Temperatures this afternoon are heading into the upper 60s and lower 70s, and again, great weather for all you last minute shoppers.
ACROSS THE USA: Progressively colder weather systems will bring areas of rain, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds. Heavy rain in the Southwest may produce flash flooding and debris flows on burn scars. Snow levels may bring accumulating snow in the Pacific Northwest, including the Seattle and Portland Metro Areas. High winds in the Plains will produce areas of critical fire weather.
SANTA’S RIDE: No weather issues for Santa tonight across Alabama. The sky will feature more clouds, but it will be noticeably warmer for all of us as temperatures will only fall into the 50s by first thing tomorrow morning.
CHRISTMAS DAY: We will see more clouds in the sky as moisture levels rise, and a few sprinkles could fall, but overall it will be another great and very warm day of weather for Alabama. After the 50s in the morning, we will see low and mid 70s across Central Alabama, with upper 70s across South Alabama. No reason the kids can’t get outside and play with all the new bikes or toys Santa delivers tonight.
SUNDAY: Little change in the forecast for the day after Christmas…It will remain partly sunny with afternoon highs again surging into the low 70s. Again, a few sprinkles could show up in the radar, but rain chances are less than 20%.
