Gov. Kay Ivey joined leaders of Wellborn Cabinet Inc. to formally announce a $15 million expansion that will ultimately create more than 200 jobs at the company’s plant in rural Clay County.

Wellborn, a family-owned maker of kitchen and bath cabinets, said the project expands its manufacturing capabilities in Ashland with the addition of a planer mill and a paint facility. Altogether, the project adds four buildings to its complex, growing its space to 2.2 million square feet.

The project includes health care and daycare facilities for Wellborn’s workforce in Clay County, which today exceeds 1,300 people.
