Showers and Storms Over Central Alabama

| August 14, 2021 @ 9:52 pm

Showers and storms have formed tonight in a moistening atmosphere that is feeling the effects of an upper trough to the north. It is all being helped by boundaries coming northward from earlier storms over South Central Alabama.

At this hour, the storms are over several parts of Central Alabama, including the Birmingham metro area, Anniston, south of Tuscaloosa, and between Brent and Clanton.

Storms over the southern parts of the Birmingham area may grow in size and intensity over the next 30 minutes as a major outflow boundary pushes in from the south. Hearing lightning here in the Action Road/459 area.

The storms shouldn’t get out of hand but they will have lightning, brief heavy rain, and some gusty winds.
