EXPIRED – Flood Advisory Issued for Parts of Blount County Until 3:45 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Central Blount County in central Alabama…

* Until 345 PM CDT.

* At 158 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Oneonta, Blountsville, Cleveland, Locust Fork, Allgood, Fairview,
Hayden, Nectar, Rosa, Easley and Fowler Spring.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
