Flash Flood Watch Issued for Much of Central Alabama for Saturday & Sunday

NWS Birmingham has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH starting at 7 am Saturday morning for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa. The watch is set to expire at 7 pm Sunday evening.

Heavy rainfall associated with the developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico will begin Saturday morning across southwestern portions of Central Alabama. The heavy rainfall will spread northward Saturday afternoon into Saturday night and may continue into Sunday. Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches will be possible in the watch area.
