A Quick Radar Check at 2:30 pm

| June 12, 2021 @ 2:30 pm

At this moment, there are no severe thunderstorm warnings in North/Central Alabama, but we do have multiple thunderstorms out there with the potential of gusty winds and some small hail. These thunderstorms will continue to move in a south-southeasterly direction throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening hours.

These storm may form and strengthen rather quickly, become strong to severe for a short period of time, then nearly dissipate before another takes its place and does the same. We’ll also have to watch for storm formation along outflow boundaries from collapsing storms.

The threat for stronger to severe storms will continue from now until 9:00 pm tonight across nearly all the area. The good news is that not everyone will see rain and will get a break from what we have seen over the past 5 days. The bad news is these storms will be decent rain producers as the precipitable water values across the area are close to 2 inches. So don’t be surprised if we may have a brief flash flooding issues with a stronger storm or two.
