Severe T-Storm Watch Issued for the Southeastern Parts of Central Alabama Until 12:00 am pm

The Storm Prediction Center, along with NWS Birmingham, have issued a Severe T-Storm Watch effective immediately for the following counties in Central Alabama until 12:00 am: Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Lee, Macon, Pike, Russell.

Here is the text from the SPC:

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Southeast Alabama
The Florida Panhandle
West central and southwest Georgia
Coastal Waters

* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 725 PM until 100 AM EDT.

* Primary threats include…
Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible
Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY… A well-developed squall line with embedded bowing segments will persist for several more hours while moving east-southeastward from Alabama into Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. Damaging winds will be the main threat, though an embedded mesovortex tornado or two may occur where the squall line intersects an outflow boundary across the northern part of the watch area.

REMEMBER… A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
