Forecast Update for This Weekend’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama
Friday will be a dry day at Barber Motorsports Park, but a system will be making its way toward the track throughout the day. The good news is that we’ll stay dry, but showers will become possible by the evening hours and potentially continue through the rest of the night and into the first half of the next day. Skies will start off mostly cloudy and clouds will continue to build throughout the day. Temperatures will start off around 49 degrees at 7:30 am and only make it up to around 66 degrees for the daytime high. Winds will be out of the northeast at 0-5 mph.
Saturday continues to trend in the way of potential rainfall during the morning hours up until the midday hour. After that, rain chances really start to drop and more than likely will be dry from roughly 2 pm through the rest of the racing day. Skies will be mainly cloudy through the morning, then clouds will start to decrease with a few rays of sunshine breaking out during the afternoon and early evening hours. It will be a cool day as temperatures will start off around 51 degrees when the gates open at 7:30 am and only getting to around 65 degrees for the afternoon high. Winds will be out of the east at less than 5 mph to start but will shift out of the northwest at 5-10 mph by afternoon. Rain chances will be around 60% up through midday, then rapidly dropping to near 0% by the mid-afternoon. At this point, there will be no worries of lightning.
Sunday will be a fabulous day for racing at the track as we’ll have mostly sunny skies with milder temperatures. It will be around 48 degrees when the gates open, but will make it up to around 70 degrees for the afternoon high. Winds will be out of the northwest at 5-10 mph. Bring the shades, hats, and sunscreen as you will definitely need them after it warms up a little.
