Wind Advisory Issued for Much of Central Alabama Through Midnight Tonight

From NWS Birmingham: Gusty winds have been reported, especially on the backside of the shield of rain here in Central Alabama. A Wind Advisory has been issued for gusts up to 40 mph in areas. We had a report from Pickens Co. EMA of some trees knocked down.

The included counties are Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa.

Here is the text of the advisory:

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT…

* WHAT…Southeast winds may gust up to 40 mph at times.

* WHERE…Portions of Central Alabama, generally along and south
of Interstate 20.

* WHEN…Until midnight CDT tonight.

* IMPACTS…Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
