Storm Strengthening as it Moves into the Birmingham Area

| March 17, 2021 @ 11:53 am

The storm moving into western parts of the Birmingham Metro area is intensifying and has shown a substantial increase in lightning.

They are not severe, but do have lots of lightning, heavy rain, gusty winds, and even some small hail. We are monitoring them.

Doppler radar does show some broad rotation on the two stronger cores, indicating that the atmosphere is becoming more primed for severe weather.

Be alert as these storms move through western parts of Birmingham and Jefferson County, including Bessemer, Hueytown, Fairfield, Midfield, Adamsville, Ensley, West End, Downtown Birmingham, Pratt City, Fultondale, Gardendale, Tarrant, and Center Point.
