PDS Tornado Watch Issued for Parts of Alabama and Mississippi until 7 p.m.

The Storm Prediction Center issue PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watches when conditions are favorable for long-lived and intense tornadoes.

They comprise only about 3% of the overall tornado watches issued.

In Central Alabama, the watch includes: Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston Counties.

It will be in effect until 7 p.m., but you can expect additional tornado watches throughout the overnight and in areas not covered by this watch.
