A Good Dry Spell Through the Next Seven Days While Temperatures Warm Up

THE CENTRAL ALABAMA WEEKEND
After we start off with a good bit of cloud cover just before sunrise on Saturday, skies will begin to clear out, and we’ll end up with mostly sunny skies across Central Alabama by sunset. Highs will be in the mid-50s to the lower 60s across the area. High pressure sets up close by for Sunday that will bring sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures to the area. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-60s.

NEXT WEEK
High pressure continues to dominate our weather across Central Alabama on Monday. We’ll continue with sunny skies and even warmer with highs reaching the mid-60s to the lower 70s across the area from northwest to southeast. High pressure begins to slide off to the east and that will allow some clouds to work into the area on Tuesday. While we’ll be partly cloudy, we will stay dry across Central Alabama. Highs will top out in the upper 60s to the lower 70s. A southerly flow starts across Central Alabama on Wednesday that will allow those dewpoints to rise and more clouds to form. We will continue to stay dry, but those temperatures will be even warmer. Highs will be in the lower to mid-70s.

The high pressure ridge centered over the Atlantic Coast of the southeast will continue to keep any systems from moving into Central Alabama by deflecting them northward. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy at times with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s. A few spots in the southern parts of the area may break 80 degrees. Several spots will break 80 degrees on Friday as the ridging stays in place keeping us warm and dry. Skies will be partly sunny with highs reaching the mid-70s to the lower 80s.

OUR NEXT RAINMAKER
Taking a step out there in Voodoo Land, it looks like our next rainmaker will move into the area on Sunday, March 14th. Between now and then, no rain is expected for all of Central Alabama.

1954 – Florida received its greatest modern-day snowfall of record, with 4.0 inches at the Milton Experimental Station. Pensacola FL equalled their 24-hour record with 2.1 inches of snow.
